GENETIC DIVERSITY AND GENETIC EROSION IN THE BREEDS OF FARM ANIMALS
D. Hristova, S. Tanchev, S. Georgiev, Ts. Yablanski
Abstract: Looking at the many different studies and the results by own investigations the authors analyze the importance of genetic diversity for existence and support of farm animal breeds. According to authors, to safe the breeds it is necessary to keep optimal size of the populations. It is analyzed the negative role of some genetic factors (inbreeding, genetic drive, including of an exotic plasma and others), which lead to the genetic erosion and lose of whole breeds. The authors show the necessity from keeping and saving of genetic resources in animal breeding which is very important to keep genetic diversity. On the other side it is shown the possibility to support a composition of unique genes, which are very important for the breeding and for a construction of new genotypes and trance genes animals with very important biological and productive traits.
