GENOTYPING OF THE RYANODINE RECEPTOR GENE IN PIGS FROM DANUBE WHITE BREED

Abstract: Porcine stress syndrome is genetically determined and it is due to a mutation in the locus of the ryanodine receptor gene. When the pigs are stressed the Malignant hyperthermiain is activated in the homozygous for the recessive allele, known as PSS syndrome. Animals with this syndrome is characterized by a high content of muscle tissue, which is accompanied by characteristic changes in the quality of the meat. The aim of this study is to make genotyping for ryanodine receptor gene in pigs from Danube white breed. Genotyping by searches locus was performed by polymerase chain reaction method (PCR method) and the analysis of the polymorphism of the restriction fragment lengths (RFLP). DNA is isolated from plucked hair of 53 animals from the herd of the Agricultural Institute – Shumen. Established frequencies of genotypes are 0.962 for the homozygous for the dominant allele pigs (N / N) and 0.037 for heterozygous animals (N / n). The frequency of the dominant allele N is 0981 and of the recessive allele n is 0.019. Homozygous for the recessive allele animals have not been established. All tested animals from the herd are PSS negative.
