Scientific chronicle on the mechanization of animal husbandry in Bulgaria (for the period 1952-2012)

Резюме: The research work “Scientific chronicle on the Mechanization of Animal Husbandry in Bulgaria (for the period 1952-2012)” is dedicated to “Animal Husbandry Mechanization” scientific department – part of the former Research Institute for Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture (NIMESS) in Sofia. This study represents a brief historical retrospection of the 60-year history of section. In volume 2 and volume 3 (2017) of the Bulgarian Journal of Animal Husbandry they were published, respectively, the first and second parts of the study. These publications follow the conditions and prerequisites for the establishment of the department, as well as the main stages of it scientific development. The current third, final, part of the study summarizes the results of the department’s activity. The main contributions of the department for raising the technical and technological level of livestock breeding in Bulgaria and for the development of the scientific specialty “Mechanization of Animal Husbandry” are outlined. Some results from the publishing and pedagogical events of the department have been mentioned. Also they are presented the administrative heads of the unit in his 60-year history as well as the participation of the department in managing of NIMESS and of some state and international institutions. Some of the team and individual awards of the department are mentioned as an expression of the positive assessment and state acknowledgment for the achievements of the department.
